Tribute To My Favorite Soldier
Posted by Joel on April 2, 2008

This is dedicated to 1st Lt. Renee Robertson, as she is about to depart to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She is the younger sister of Dr. Yara Robertson, one of the sassiest individuals that I have ever met. Please leave comments on this post, as Renee will be able to read it the next couple of days before heading to Iraq…
Beauty in fatigues is what I call her.
She is loyal to herself, family, friends, country, and fellow officers.
Duty is her privilege. She is always trying to improve herself for the good of the group, and accepts responsibility for her actions.
She respects others, and because of the respect she gives, others respect her.
Selfless service is a way of life, as she gladly and willingly puts others ahead of her.
Honor is perhaps her best adjective, although the true honor is knowing her.
She has more integrity than anyone else. She is always true to others and to herself.
Above all, she is courageous, as she will look fear in the face and laugh while looking fabulous.
Oh, and this soldier happens to be taken. Pray for her man, he will need it. She’s also a University of Memphis grad, so GO TIGERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, and having served two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf, I can certainly understand any apprehensions you may have as you prepare for deployment. Please know you have the support of an entire nation. My personal thoughts and prayers are with you as they are for all of our service members around the globe.
Pay attention to detail! Don’t let your guard down for one second. Do your duty and do it well.
Remember that you not only represent this great nation but those of us that came before you.
Stay in touch and let us know if you need anything. Say the word and it’s yours.
Now go do your job.

Thank you for your sacrifice! No matter how I feel about the war we’re fighting, each soldier who ricks her (or his) life is my HERO because Y’ALL are the reason that the war isn’t knocking on my front door. Trust God and He won’t fail you. Peace
