Jesus we suck! We’ll never win a title. But I own a shirt with the word fuck in it so I’m cool.
1. Being known as the couch burning capital of college football.
2. Giving Lou Holtz his only national champion title.
3. Having a degenerate hippie like Steve Tanyhill defeat you to bring South Carolina their first ever bowl victory.
4. Being embarrassed by Maryland by a score of 34-7 only to play them later that same year in the Gator bowl just to embarrass yourself again by losing 41-7.
5. Running off some no name coach by the name of Bobby Bowden. You might have heard of him by now.
6. Knowing that Marshall has 2 national championships while you have none.
7. Taking pride in being the “Kings of Thursday Night Football”
8. Breaming with joy over having the 2nd highest rated game in ESPN History, while other schools rather look to their trophy case instead.
9. Knowing Marshall has produced players like Chad Pennington & Byron Leftwich, while West Virginia has produced players like Major Harris & Chris Henry.
10. After losing the Continental Tire bowl to Virginia in 2002, whine about Notre Dame going to the Gator bowl instead of you.
11. Having a losing bowl record.
12. Pacman Jones.
13. The middle finger of Marcus Vick.
14. Losing a home coming game to Duke.
15. Always being the third or fourth best team in the Big East until Miami and Virginia Tech fled to the ACC, just to have some teams from Conference USA come in, and put you back in to your place…3rd or 4th.
16. Losing to South Florida back to back, a school who 10 years ago wasn’t a D1 program. Thanks Joel.
17. Being ranked #2 in the country, 1 win away from playing for the BCS championship and losing at home to an unranked, 4 & 7 Pitt team.

For all you SEC haters on WVU; you should feel happy and proud that loyal fans who struggle year after year, big game defeat after big game defeat and still support the Mountaineers have been crushed again. It was not our team that was defeated this time. It was our spirit and our souls. We HEAR you every year saying WVU is undeserving, back woods, weak conference. We HEAR you every year; Couch burning, Moonshining, Shoeless, E-I-E-I-O; We HEAR you every year when we fight and defend our team, our school and the spirit that is West Virginia Football. Today YOU win, the COUNTRY wins, the PUNDITS win. We, as a WVU nation show up every game, we travel to every game, we go to every bowl, but on this night; the most IMPORTANT night in 100 years of Mountaineer football; our coach and our team did not show up; THEY QUIT ON US. They have broken us more quickly and with more pain than ANY SEC, BIG TEN, PAC TEN, BIG 12 chest pounding Big East bashing fan could do. They embarrassed the state, the school and the alumni. You can bash away but I wonder if it will still be as fun. We agree with you. You win. All you WVU basher are right. We are a unworthy, second rate program that will never win a national championship. We QUIT. WVU is a fine school, that graduates more successful people in all walks of life that I truly believe would surprise those who continue to be lazy and repeat and regurgitate; couch burning, moon shine, shoeless, e-i-e-i-o, etc… Last night our team disgraced this great proud state, its people and its alumni. Hail to the SEC! Hail to the Big TEN, Hail to the PAC TEN, Hail to the ACC who stole 3 of our teams; 3 teams who it would seem felt the same way you all do about the big east. We finally submit to you. We will not battle nor defend our team. Our team plays alone now. They must now earn our respect and earn our loyalty to defend them again. I for one will not. 15 years of unfettered support and unshakeable loyalty in my team has been dissolved. It was not in one night but in a succession of near misses but last night something was different. Those imposters in gold played with no pride, no courage and no heart. West Virginians deserve more. So go ahead SEC; gloat away. To any Mountaineer football player listening, to Coach Rod; EARN US BACK. To my fellow WVU broken hearted; dont travel to the bowl game this year. They deserve no support from us. To loose is human and acceptable in all cases, to not play? to have no pride, to have not courage, to have no heart and to let the State of WV down like that is unacceptable. – Mountie-NoMore

Let’s not forget the incredible weak OOC schedule. The Big East is a weak 8 team conference. With 8 teams you shouldn’t even get an automatic bowl bid. Why not to expand your conference instead of bitching about not getting respect. That’s what the ACC did. Now they have a championship game. Guess what? They’re still a weak conference as a whole, just not as weak as the Big Least. I understand your frustration with your team, for I feel the same about mine. But I still support them. I think we need a new coach, but I still support Fulmer. I would never turn my back on the Vols. Ever.

Listen Godhateswesevirginia, I know things are looking pretty bad right now, but to not support your team anymore after a few heartaches is extreme. Look at Red Sox fans and White Sox fans. They went without any titles for YEARS until recently. If you ask any of their fans, from the snot nosed 12 year old to the 80 year old fart, they will tell you the bad years have been minimized a hell of a lot and the good times are that much greater. I have been a Braves fan for over 25 years now, and I can remember visiting Atlanta to see my uncle and going to the ticket booth at the old Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. You saw cobwebs in the windows. When my dad would ask for 4 tickets for a game, the old lady would either ask “Why”??? or “Are you sure”??? When we would go to grab our seats in this massive 65,000 seat stadium and see only 1,000 people there, people would say “Welcome to the library”. If someone passed gas in the right field seats, you could hear it on the third base side.
When they finally started winning and won the whole damn thing in 1995, it made those really bad times a little better. I look back now and realize that I used to root for a crappy team back then, and I laugh when I think of how bad things were. I still remember the “Go Braves…And Take the Falcons With You” bumper stickers. Things will be ok. Stay a fan of West Virginia. There’s always next year, and that is what makes sports great…
And yes, God does hate West Virginia…

I’d feel sorry for the Mountaineers, but I got ten phone calls last Friday after Arkansas beat LSU…and then they all made reservations on Monday to go to New Orleans.
Too bad they couldn’t take care of business.
And hats off to Tennessee for a great game. It’s better for us as a conference when the Vols are good.
